Shabab Milli chief vows to continue struggle against rulers
QUETTA, June 16: Shabab Milli chief Syed Shahid Shah Gailani said on Thursday that he would press ahead with his struggle against “anti-people rulers” who had put the country’s integrity at stake with their ill-advised policies. Mr Gailani told reporters at the Quetta Press Club on Thursday that the country was passing through a serious crisis due to the “wrong domestic and foreign policies of the Musharraf government”. These policies had given rise to unemployment, price hikes and lawlessness, he said.
The Shabab Milli chief cited three major areas in which the present rulers had badly erred: the NFC award, mishandling of Balochistan problem and the alleged U-turn on Kashmir issue.
Although billions of rupees had been spent on the law enforcement agencies with the purpose of providing security to citizens, he said gang-rape cases and other criminal activities continued to be reported in Punjab and other parts of the country. He said that the police instead of hunting down criminals had often acted as their collaborator.
The Shabab Milli chief referred to the recent rape case in Gujrat and said that, despite assurances by the president and prime minister, the victim was not provided justice.
Mr Gailani asserted that without drastic changes in the system, the people would continue to suffer at the hands of inefficient and corrupt rulers.
He announced that the Shabab Milli in collaboration with the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal would participate in the upcoming local bodies’ elections to resolve problems confronted by people at the local level.
DRUG ADDICTS: A division bench of Balochistan High Court has issued orders to the authorities to get Habib Nullah evacuated from the drug addicts.
The bench comprised Chief Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed and Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani directed to deploy the platoon of Balochistan reserve police in order that no drug addict or other person should use the Nullah as den. The court issued the orders on the constitutional petition filed by Sakhi Sultan advocate. High court ordered that Anti-Narcotics Force and police should strictly take steps to curb the sale of the drugs in that locality. The hearing was adjourned till June 27.
APPEAL REJECTED: The Election Appellate Tribunal of Balochistan has dismissed an appeal challenging acceptance of nomination papers of a candidate for by-election on PB-12 (Qila Abdullah-II).
The tribunal, comprising Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani and Justice Metha Kelash Nath Kohli, on Thursday announced the reserved judgement and dismissed the appeal filed by Abdul Qahar Wadan of the Pakthunkhwa Milli Awami Party.
The appellant had objected to the acceptance of the papers of Ghulam Sarwar Piralizai of the Awami National Party on the ground that he was not present at the time of the filing of the papers. The tribunal rejected the argument. Hadi Shakeel advocate represented the petitioner and Jamal Khan Mandokhel appeared on behalf of the defendant.
jam Yousuf: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Muhammad Yousuf said on Sunday that relations between India and Pakistan would strengthen in near future.
Addressing a dinner hosted in honour of the visiting Indian football team at CM secretariat, he said that both nations had a common history of freedom struggle against British Raj.
He hoped that bitterness of the past would be replaced by sweet memories of mutual confidence, trust and good relations as neighbours.
He thanked the Indian government for accepting the invitation and agreeing to play three match series in Pakistan.
The CM also announced increasing sport budget of the province from Rs4 million to Rs15 million.—APP
