KARACHI: Ibad for even-handed action against criminals: Violence in city, interior


KARACHI, June 16: The Sindh Governor, Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, has issued directives for action against those involved in crimes and terrorism, and causing harm to life and property, without discrimination and without submitting to pressure from any quarters.

He pointed out that improvement had been brought in conditions of the province after great efforts and continuous struggle, clarifying that no one would be allowed to disturb that.

He was presiding over a meeting held at the Governor’s House to review law and order situation.

The governor made it clear that no impediment would be tolerated in the smooth functioning of routine life, cultural, sports and literary activities, or to harm progress made in the economic sector.

He laid stress on collective efforts for making steps, being taken for improving the lot of the common man, provision of employment and ensuring peaceful conditions at every level.

In this regard, he emphasised that political, religious and social leaders and organisations would have to remain above personal and party interests to play their role.

Ibad took notice of certain incidents occurring in Karachi and in the interior of the province, and issued directives to concerned authorities to take necessary steps in that regard.

He also expressed hope that people too would continue extending their cooperation in thwarting the nefarious designs of such elements.

The governor called for keeping active the intelligence network against crimes in the province, while also calling for an effective liaison between law and order relating organizations.

Earlier, the Provincial Home Minister, Rauf Siddiqui, Home Secretary and the IG of Police briefed the meeting about the law and order situation.

The meeting was attended by Adviser on Local Government Waseem Akhtar, Chief Secretary Fazalur Rehman, Principal Secretary Brig (Retd) Akhtar Zamin, DG Rangers Maj-Gen Javed Zia, the CCPO Karachi and other officials.—APP
