SUKKUR, June 15: Kandhkot DPO Ferozuddin Abbasi has left the charge and gone to Karachi to meet the Sindh IGP to ask him for action against the leadership of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement. The DPO is reported to have said he will not resume his duty unless action was taken against the Muttahida leadership.
A scuffle between MQM senator Mohammad Ali Brohi, adviser to the Sindh chief minister, Nusrat Aziz, party workers and police officials of Kashmore could not be resolved despite intervention of Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui. Larkana DIG Ramzan Channa also went to Kandhkot to resolve the issue but failed.
The dispute started two days ago when Latao Khan Bhangwar, a close aide of MNA Saleem Jan Mazari, lodged a case against MQM zonal office-bearers for allegedly attacking his house.
Taking notice of the matter, the home minister asked police officers of Kandhkot to go to the Muttahida zonal office and resolve the issue.
The two parties exchanged hot words when they met at the zonal office. Police strongly protested against the incident and demanded action against the Muttahida leadership for allegedly insulting police officers and creating hindrance in their duty.
The Larkana DIG also reached Kandhkot to end the dispute but to no avail.
On Wednesday, Muttahida zonal in charge Ghulam Mustafa Jakhrani resigned, alleging that party leader Jamaluddin Barhamani was using the party for his personal gains.
Sources said that taking notice of the dispute, the chief minister and the governor had summoned the DPO and the MQM leadership to Karachi to resolve the matter.
