Rs274m surplus budget for Haripur district
HARIPUR, June 15: A revised surplus budget of Rs274 million of the Haripur district council for the year 2004-5 was presented here on Wednesday. The revised outlay of total income for development and administrative expenditures of the district carried a surplus of Rs1.53 million. On the other hand, the total development grant to be received from the province has been slashed by Rs9 million on account of at-source deduction for outstanding bills of Pesco.
The budget session was presided over by acting convener Sahibzada Hamid Shah.
Presenting the revised budget, district nazim Dr Raja Amer Zaman told the council that out of the total budget estimate of Rs952.06 million for the year 2004-5, a sum of Rs273 million had been allocated for development and administrative expenses, excluding the salary bill which was directly disbursed by the province.
However, certain additions and deductions in receipts had earned the district an amount of Rs1.53 million as surplus.
About the sources of income, the nazim said that a sum of Rs235.3 million was to be received from the province, while from own sources the district was expected to generate Rs39.3 million instead of Rs42 million as estimated previously.
Giving a breakdown of estimated receipts from the provincial government, the district nazim said that Rs37 million was receivable as non-salary funds during the ongoing fiscal year, Rs41 million on account of electricity projects, Rs94 million for development schemes, and Rs61.9 million in lieu of zila tax.
