KARACHI: MMA protests against Sindh govt

KARACHI, June 15: Women activists of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration against the desecration of the Holy Quran by the US army, target killings of MMA activists, and lawlessness in the city. They were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans calling for dismissal of the Sindh government and the governor, and arrest of murderers of MMA leaders and activists.

Addressing the protestors, provincial MMA leader and Amir Jamaat-i-Islami Karachi Dr Merajul Huda Siddiqui held the Sindh government responsible for the deteriorated law and order situation in the city.

He said political rivals of the government were being targeted by terrorists, alleging that these terrorists were being patronized and supported by the Sindh governor.

Dr Huda said that despite calling a judicial probe into the killing of JI Naib-Amir Aslam Mujahid, no judicial officer had been yet appointed for the purpose.

He alleged the government of resorting to state terrorism for suppressing its political rivals.

The MMA leader also accused the government of spending money from the national exchequer on ministers and advisers instead of solving economical problems of the masses.

He mentioned that preparations were being made to buy aeroplanes for the Sindh governor and chief minister, which would be an extra burden on the exchequer.—PPI
