HYDERABAD, June 15: A large number of PPP activists, including women, staged a protest sit-in outside the local press club and blocked a key road for quite some time against the arrest of party MPA, Zahid Bhurgari, in what they called a false case. They raised slogans against the Sindh chief minister for “victimising PPP leaders”.

An emotional worker of the party and Nazim of UC-4, Jeando Soomro, repeatedly banged his head against the main gate of the press club and injured himself.

Speaking on the occasion, Amanullah Siyal, Fayaz Shah, Ghulam Rasool Kalhoro and others said that no amount of repression “can douse the spirit” of the party leaders and workers.

They said that party MPAs were being implicated in false cases because they were critical of the Sindh budget and they had launched a movement against the bifurcation of Hyderabad district.

They demanded that the “false case against Zahid Bhurgari MPA” should be withdrawn failing which the party would stage a series of protest demonstrations throughout Sindh against the chief minister.

At this stage, Jeando Soomro became highly emotional and he repeatedly bashed his head against the main gate of the press club and injured himself seriously. With blood oozing out of his head, the party workers took him away.
