LONDON, June 14: New Sri Lanka cricket coach Tom Moody has highlighted two key areas to concentrate on in his new post. Moody, who left Worcestershire after 14 years with English county, has targeted 2007 World Cup and improved level of performance outside the sub-continent.

“Sri Lanka are a talented side. I think agenda is to look for consistency home and away in both formats of the game. The quicker players know they can be successful away from home the better.”

Moody is also looking towards the team’s tour of England in 2006, and making sure any new players do not have same problems with conditions that inexperienced Bangladesh batsmen had earlier this year.

“I shall assess what pool of talent is there and who are bowlers and batsmen who are going to fill the shoes of the current players,” he said before leaving for Colombo.

“We need to see who may be able to feature more overseas and perform on the quicker, bouncier English seaming wickets than they currently do.

“There are a lot of things I am going to have to introduce myself to, wider spectrum of players that are there, not just current XI that have been playing past few months.”—Agencies
