Protest against govt ad ban on June 25

KARACHI, June 14: The APNS and the CPNE have decided at a joint meeting to observe a protest day throughout the country on June 25 against the government’s ban on advertisements to certain publications. A press release says the joint APNS-CPNE action committee has decided that newspapers will carry a black protest strip on June 25 and editorials/articles to emphasize the importance of press freedom and the consequences of the government’s action.

It has also been decided to lodge a constitutional petition in the Supreme Court challenging the ban on advertisements as an infringement of the Constitution.
