NWFP AG told to continue

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, June 14: The Governor’s House on Monday confirmed that the NWFP advocate-general had resigned, however, he had been asked to continue till further orders. An official statement said AG Hamed Farooq Durrani had tendered resignation from his office, expressing his inability to continue on the ground that his appointment had become controversial between the provincial government and the office of the governor.

“NWFP Governor Khalil-ur-Rehman while appreciating the professional credentials and competence of Mr Hamed Farooq Durrani has advised him to continue his work as usual till further orders,” the statement read.

An official in the Governor’s House said Mr Durrani resigned on his own and not under pressure from the Governor’s House. “He thought his appointment had become controversial and wanted to call it a day to help resolve the issue,” the official said.
