Woman burnt alive by in-laws

By Our Correspondent

SIALKOT, June 13: A married woman was burnt alive allegedly by her in-laws in Lala Phalora village, Pasrur tehsil, on Monday. Reports said a landlord Muhammad Zakriya’s young daughter Rubina, 22, was married to Gulzar Ahmad about a year ago. Gulzar went abroad soon after the marriage, while Rubina developed differences with her in-laws.

On Monday, her in-laws, including Muhammad Arshad, Delawar Hussain and Kousar Bibi, allegedly subjected Rubina to severe physical torture and set her ablaze after sprinkling kerosene oil on her. She was burnt badly and died on way to a hospital.

On the report of Rubina’s father, the police have registered a murder case against her in-laws without any arrest so far.

ACCIDENT: A woman and her brother were killed, while five persons, including two minor children, injured seriously in a collision between two rickshaws and a car on main Daska-Gujranwala road.

Reports said two racing rickshaws collided with each other due to high speed, while a car also hit them, killing Safia Bibi and Mohammad Sadique on the spot. The drivers of the rickshaws managed to escape.

The injured were admitted to the THQ hospital in critical condition.

City police have registered a case and are investigating.
