PHC reserves verdict on petition against MPA
PESHAWAR, June 13: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) here on Monday reserved judgment on a writ petition seeking disqualification of MPA Malik Imran of the Muslim League (N), who was charged with having submitted a forged bachelor’s degree.
A PHC division bench, comprising Chief Justice Tariq Pervez Khan and Justice Qaim Jan Khan, after hearing the arguments of the counsel of the petitioner (Naqeebullah Khan), reserved the judgment.
On Monday, when the bench started hearing, petitioner’s counsel Sardar Khan advocate submitted before the court that the Sindh High Court (SHC) had dismissed the appeal of the respondent, Malik Imran, and his degree had been declared as fake.
He contended that earlier the degree of Mr Imran had been cancelled by the University of Karachi. The respondent moved the SHC challenging the decision of the university, but the SHC also dismissed the petition.
He disagreed with the arguments of the respondent’s counsel that the petition had been filed on only two documents. Mr Sarder contended that the petitioner (Malik Naqeebullah) had submitted eight documents in support of his petition, which negated the arguments of the counsel of the respondent.
He argued that the respondent’s marks-sheet, gazette record, registers A and B in the Karachi University had been allegedly found forged and tampered. The counsel said the MPA had no right to retain the public office.—APP
