KARACHI, June 12: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and the Transparency International for implementation of transparency in the procurement system at PIA head office.

Transparency International is a non-government organisation dedicated to strengthening accountability and curbing corruption.

Its national chapter Transparency International Pakistan aims at building a coherent National Integrity System with primary emphasis on reforming the system, rather than blaming the individuals.

The vice-chairman of Transparency International Pakistan, Syed Adil Gilani, appreciated PIA for voluntarily bringing in an external system for improving its procurement procedures.

He expressed his confidence that the Transparency International would not only assist in streamlining the procedures, but would also ensure quality procurements in less time and at competitive rates.

PIA Chairman and CEO Tariq Kirmani speaking on the occasion said the memorandum was basically a route, which the corporation was adopting to bring transparency and excellence in its procurements. — APP
