KARACHI, June 11: Kamran Ishaq propelled Habib Bank (HBL) to an overwhelming 7-1 victory over Naka Mohammadan with a brilliant hat trick in the National Challenge Cup soccer at CDGK Stadium on Saturday. The bankers were quick to score as they opened their account with a fifth-minute Nazeer Ahmad strike and were 2-0 up when Shahid Saleem struck in the 16th minute.
It seemed Naka Mohammadan would give the bankers a tough time when they reduced the margin the next minute through Swaleh.
But the rest of the proceedings proved a nightmare for the losers as HBL fired in five more goals to hand Naka Mohammadan a crushing defeat.
Kamran slammed home his first in the 28th minute, while Shahid struck the ball on the bar over Naka Mohammadan goalkeeper Asghar before it went into the goal for the fourth in the 50th minute.
Nazeer was unstoppable in the 64th minute when he dodged past stopper and keeper Asghar before firing the ball into the net.
The bankers were 6-1 ahead when Kamran once again latched onto a long ball and cashed-in on a defensive lapse to find the target, beating goalie Asghar four minutes before time.
Nazeer could have scored the seventh but missed from within the box. Kamran completed the tally and his treble in style after coming into action from 40 yards, tricking his way past the entire defence and rounding goalkeeper Asghar seconds before final whistle.
Shakir Lashari’s hat trick spurred KESC to a 3-1 triumph against Korangi Rangers.
Shakir slotted home the first goal in the 33rd minute before back-to-back strikes in the 78th and 79th minute.
Faisal scored the consolation goal for Rangers just seconds before fulltime.
Sunday is the rest day.
