LAHORE, June 10: The results of elections of the Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) have been sealed by the order of a Civil Judge on Friday.
The elections were organised by the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) on Friday.
Ten voters, out of total 12 of the affiliated units of the PTTF took part in the elections.
Upon arrival, POA elections committee headed by Abdul Khaliq Khan revealed that the elections would be held but its result could not be announced under the order of a Civil Judge, Lahore.
The judge issued the order on a petition filed by Amjad, whose name was recommended by the Punjab Table Tennis Association (PTTA) to contest the election for a post of executive committee.
Khaliq said that the court had set June 13 as the date of hearing. He said that the results had been sealed after holding the elections through secret balloting.
There were two groups who filed the nomination papers for the elections. One group was headed by S.M Sibtain while the other by Mrs Tania, the daughter of the previous PTTF president S.H Shah.
But no representative from Punjab came to take part in the elections.
The POA, which had earlier held the elections of the Pakistan Swimming Federation (PSF) to resolve an issue between two warring group, had to conduct the elections of the PTTF for similar issue.
The PTTF’s affairs were run by a two-member committee and the Pakistan Sports Board since former president S.H Shah had completed his tenure in Feb 2003 and elections could not be held due to conflict between two groups.
Meanwhile, S.M Sibtain said that he wondered why Punjab did not turn up for the elections which were being held under the findings of the arbitration committee, formed by POA president Lt. Gen. Arif Hasan and both the groups had accepted its recommendations.
