Lawyers stage protest rally

By Our Correspondent

CHITRAL, June 10: Lawyers in Chitral boycotted court proceedings on Thursday and took out a procession to protest against the desecration of the Holy Quran by US soldiers in Guantanamo Bay.

The protest, held in response to a call by the Pakistan Bar council, was led by district bar association president Ahmeduddin advocate. The march began from the bar room and turned into a rally at the Goldoor Chowk where it was addressed by Ahmeduddin advocate, Abdul Wali, Abdul Karim and others.

The speakers criticized the government for what they called mild protest over the incident which had hurt the feelings of Muslims all over the world.
