Rs500m for access to justice programme


LAHORE, June 9: An amount of Rs500 million has been allocated to improve the quality of justice-related services for an effective and expeditious judicial system. The Punjab government is committed to improving the justice services.

Its reforms include enactment of the Consumer Protection Act, 2005, establishment of police and public bodies, grant of special allowance to judicial officers, introduction of highway patrol posts, pay packages, construction of jails and courtrooms.technical education: Focusing on technical education, the Punjab government has allocated Rs500 million for the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority during the budget for 2005-06 financial year. The allocation is 134 per cent higher than the last year’s.

The objective of Tevta is to equip the workforce with a demand-driven (vocational) education.

Technically-sound human resources required for emerging industries will be made available through the introduction of advanced skills at polytechnic institutes.—APP
