VEHARI, June 9: The Vehari tehsil council has approved a tax on public transport, which will augment its income up to Rs2 million annually. A proposal to the effect was made at a meeting of the tehsil council held at the Jinnah Hall on Wednesday.
The house unanimously passed the proposal and sent it to the local government secretary for further consideration. The tax will be imposed from July 1.
Meanwhile, transporters have condemned the imposition of tax and resolved not to pay it.
