Water shortage hits Gandaf

By Our Correspondent

SWABI, June 9: People in the Gandaf area are facing a severe shortage of drinking water. The problem has particularly hit the womenfolk hard who bring water for domestic use from far-off places. Sources said on Thursday that the officials concerned were not ready to listen to complaints of the people in this regard.

A three-member delegation of the people had held a meeting with the district coordination officer and apprised him about the prevailing situation but in vain.

The people said that it was not possible to dig wells in the mostly mountainous area.

Official sources said that the public health department had defaulted on Rs200,000 power dues which had led to disconnection of electricity connection of the tube-well from which water was supplied to the area.
