KARACHI, June 9: Karachi’s prime thoroughfare Sharea Faisal will have modern lights installed all along it in the next three months under a four- phase project costing Rs40 million. Foundation stone of this road beautification project was laid here on Thursday by City Nazim Niamatullah Khan at the Awami Markaz, Sahrea Faisal.
Speaking on the occasion, the nazim said that the busiest artery with traffic moving on it round-the-clock would get a permanent glittering touch with the installation of the lights and would give it a glamorous look.
The bright path would leave a good impression on visiting foreign dignitaries and other distinguished guests, he said.
Mr Khan recalled that before the introduction of the devolution system, the highest ever budget of the city’s municipality stood at Rs5 billion which the city government had raised to Rs42 billion over the past four years. He attributed the increase to the city government’s good performance. He also noted an increase in revenue.—APP
