PESHAWAR, June 8: The Tribal Areas Electricity Supply Company (Tesco) has started load management in tribal areas to save the power system from total collapse due to severe overloading of the system. Load management is being carried out in Jamrud, Bara and Landi Kotal areas of the Khyber Agency turn by turn for six to eight hours daily to save power, says a Tesco press release issued here on Wednesday.
The power company was making efforts to minimise the duration of the load management through sectionalising of the electricity supply. The power is supplied to the tribal areas with minimum duration of load management to reduce the problems of the consumers, the press release said.
Such load management is inevitable because of a huge demand for electricity which cannot be met due to the overloading of the power system.
The Tesco spokesman appealed to the consumers to utilize power economically so that a smooth supply of electricity could be ensured. Consumers in the tribal areas were using electricity extravagantly and make no payments to the company, while consumption of power was very high in these areas, he added.
The company appealed to its consumers to utilize electricity according to their needs so that the company could supply power to the entire agency without observing load management, the press release said.
