Published June 9, 2005

PESHAWAR, June 8: The NWFP governor has summoned a special session of the NWFP Assembly on June 19 at 4pm for the presentation of the provincial budget for the 2006-06 financial year. Senior minister Sirajul Haq, who is also the finance minister, will present the budget. He has already expressed apprehensions that without getting the provincial share in the divisible pool, the NWFP will not be able to provide any relief to the poor.

The NWFP chief minister has also expressed similar views, stating that his government was facing difficulties in preparing the budget.

He expressed the hope that the federal government would release funds in time.
