Workshop for policemen

SWABI, June 7: Majority of police personnel here are unaware of the juvenile justice system and feel hesitant to inform the probation officers concerned about the detention of juvenile offenders. It was the crux of a consultation workshop on Juvenile Justice System Ordinance 2000 that was organized by the Child Rights Committee of the Society for Protection of the Right of the Child (Sparc) for police officers here on Tuesday.

The workshop was attended by SHOs, ASIs of all the police stations of the district, DSP Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate and the probation officer.

The police officials also expressed ignorance about the Probation of Offenders Ordinance during the workshop.
