Gas pipeline bursts near Larkana

By Our Correspondent

LARKANA, June 7: A 20-inch gas pipeline near Fatehpur village, some six kilometres from here, burst on Tuesday. The damage to the pipeline between Punjab and Karachi was caused by increased pressure, a police officer at Dhamraho police station told Dawn .

He said a bomb disposal squad was called from Sukkur which inspected the site and ruled out any possibility of a terrorist act.

Sui gas officials and members of Larkana police rushed to the spot and sealed the pipeline.

A police party was deployed at the affected portion of the pipeline. No damage to life or property was reported.

Sources in the gas company said gas supply to certain areas in Punjab may have been affected.
