Group winners emerge

KARACHI, June 6: Zone-V Whites and Zone-II Whites finished on top of their respective groups after defeating their rivals in the KCCA Under-19 Inter-zonal cricket championship on Sunday.

Zone-V Whites, helped by fine batting from Arsalan Hussain (60, six fours) and Salman Hafeez (50, three fours), got the better of Zone-IV Whites by 56 runs at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground.

In the other match played at the Student Sports Ground, Zone-II Whites beat Zone-III Whites by a convincing margin of nine wickets with Ali Asad (60, eight fours) and Hammad Khan (56, eight fours and two sixes) adding 105 for the unfinished second-wicket partnership.

Summarised scores:

Zone-V Whites beat Zone-IV Whites by 56 runs.

ZONE-V WHITES 207 in 40 overs (Arsalan Hussain 60, Salman Hafeez 50, Mujahid Hussain 35; Salman Shakeel 5-72); ZONE-IV WHITES 151 in 45 overs (Imran Ali Khan 42, Salman Ahmed 34, Imran Haider 26; Mohammad Nasir 3-45, Danish Zamir 2-26).

Zone-II Whites beat Zone-III Whites by nine wickets.

ZONE-III WHITES 128 in 41.3 overs (Ghulam Rasool 29; Athar Hussain 3-44, Kamran Hussain 2-43); ZONE-II WHITES 129-1 in 26.4 overs (Ali Asad 60 not out, Hammad Khan 56 not out).
