LAHORE, June 6: Four goals by Faisal, including a hat trick propelled Wohaib Club to a 5-1 win over City Club, Lahore in the National Football Challenge Cup pool “C” match at the Punjab University Ground on Sunday.
Leading 2-1 at half time, Wohaib Club, Lahore consolidated the lead by scoring three more goals in the second half.
Faisal gave Wohaib Club an early 1-0 lead when he banged home a field goal in the 4th minute.
Saleem doubled the lead (2-0) in the 18th minute, crowning solo effort.
But a minute later, Ghulam Abbas reduced the margin (2-1) for City Club scoring a field goal but later it proved their last success as humiliation for them was in store in the next half.
Faisal went on to complete his hat trick scoring in the 61st, 69th and the 89th minute through field efforts to seal the fate of the match.
Meanwhile, two goals by Nadeem helped Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF), Wah win their second consecutive match of pool ‘B’ beating Pilot Club, Azad Jammu Kashmir 3-1.
Pilot Club stunned the winners when Rashid Butt scored a goal in the 3rd minute. POF restored the parity through Farooq who scored in 35th minute.
Nadeem gave the winners 2-1 lead by scoring his first in the 80th minute and again struck in the dying minutes to complete the tally.
Earlier, two goals by Qurban Ali helped Panthers Club, Faisalabad defeat Railways 3-2 in Faisalabad. Railways gained the lead first (1-0) when two-goal scorer Shahid Bhatti struck in the 4th minute.
Panthers Club retaliated strongly through Muzammil Hussain who netted in the 13th minute to level the score 1-1.
Qurban gave Panthers 2-1 lead for the first time in the match, finding the net in the 28th minute. The slim lead remained in order till the half time.
After resumption, Qurban added his second goal in the 50th minute to increase the lead 3-1. Shahid, however, managed to score his second in the 89th minute for the losers.
