LAHORE, June 6: A westerly system brought clouds which led to a sharp fall in temperature in the provincial metropolis and several other parts of the Punjab. The local met office forecast light rain during the next 24 hours. Temperature dropped by 5.5 degrees to 39.3 degrees Celsius on Monday from 44.8 degrees Celsius on Sunday, considerably decreasing the intensity of the heatwave which had been gripping the city like other parts of the province during the last few days.

According to weather pundits, a low-pressure area lies over Balochistan and adjoining areas of Sindh. This weather pattern is also likely to cause rain in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha and Lahore divisions during the next 24 hours.

Partly cloudy weather has been forecast for Faisalabad, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur divisions.—APP
