Rs1.4bn for parliament

ISLAMABAD, June 6: The two houses of the federal legislature will get Rs1.4 billion for meeting their expenses during next financial year. In the budget 2005-06, the government has allocated Rs939.6 million for the National Assembly. The allocation is Rs153 million more than Rs786 million revised budgetary estimates of 2004-05. The initial allocation for the National Assembly in 2004-05 was Rs758 million.

In the 2005-06 budget, a sum of Rs510 million has been allocated for the Senate. The budget for the Senate was revised upwards to Rs403 million for 2004-05. The initial allocation for the Senate in 2004-05 was Rs395 million.

The government has allocated a sum of Rs109 million for the parliamentary affairs division in 2005-06.

The budget for the parliamentary affairs division was revised to Rs80.76 million from initial estimates of Rs77 million in 2004-05.
