NICs for illegal aliens opposed

By Our Correspondent

MITHI, June 5: The chairman of the Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party, Dr Qadir Magsi, has criticized the Muttahida Qaumi Movement for trying to get millions of illegal immigrants settled in Sindh at the cost of Sindhis. He was talking to newsmen here on Saturday. “The MQM’s real intentions have been exposed as it got passed a resolution from the Sindh assembly to issue NICs to Bihari, Burmese (citizen of Myanmar) and Bengali illegal immigrants to convert Sindhis into a minority “, he said.

Dr Magsi said federation and provincial autonomy had remained two major issues since the making of Pakistan and if the present rulers failed to give due rights to people, neither the country could make any progress nor its integrity could be achieved.

He said Punjab intended to convert Sindh into a desolate region by stealing its share of water through the greater Thal canal and Kalabagh dam.

Dr Magsi said Sindh chief minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim was continuously claiming that Sindh would not be deprived of its due share in the NFC award.

He said the MQM had delayed the resolution of the NFC issue.

“The MQM’s real intentions have been exposed against Sindh and Sindhis” he said.

He said the Sindhis, who had joined the bandwagon of the MQM, should perceive the anti-Sindh policy of the party.

He called upon them to leave the MQM to safeguard the interests of Sindh.

Dr Magsi also criticized the arrest of Jam Saqi’s wife.

“Arbab Ghulam Rahim should not follow traditions which may prove unsuitable for him tomorrow”, he warned.

Dr Magsi said in the past coal was a provincial asset but after discovery of huge coal deposits in Thar it had been termed as energy source as it could be exploited by the federal government.

Dr Hamid Memon and Haut Khan Gadhi were also present on the occasion.
