Published June 6, 2005

KARACHI, June 5: PPP MNAs Nawab Yousuf Talpur, Dr Fahmida Mirza and Pir Aftab Shah Jilani have submitted with the National Assembly secretariat an adjournment motion against the alleged misdeeds of Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim. “The chief minister is implementing Chankya’s ideology in Tharparkar and duping the people of Pakistan by posing himself something else than the reality,” they maintained in the motion faxed to the secretariat from Karachi.

They said that such a practice in some part of the country was a dangerous indicator for the wellbeing of the Pakistani nation. Therefore, they demanded, it should be thoroughly debated and probed by the national legislature.

They called upon the house to take notice of the developments in Tharparkar where the poor people were being treated with Chankaya’s tactics. The poor, unarmed, peaceful, downtrodden and landless people are facing terror and horror, according to the PPP legislators.

They condemned the alleged worst violation of human rights in Tharparkar being committed by the chief minister to victimize his opponents.—PPI
