Kurdish leader jailed


DAMASCUS, June 5: Syria’s Supreme State Security Court sentenced a Syrian Kurd politician convicted of seeking secession to three years in jail on Sunday, a lawyer said. “Ahmad Qasem was sentenced to five years in jail but the term was commuted to three years. The charge is belonging to a group that seeks to split territory from Syria,” said Faisal Badr, a lawyer who attended the court’s session said.—Reuters
