Govt to extradite three accused wanted by UK
RAWALPINDI, June 4: The government has agreed to extradite three alleged fugitives to UK wanted in the murder case of a British citizen, a source said. Mohammad Serwar, a member of the British parliament, held a meeting with Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao earlier this week and requested him to extradite the three as the extradition treaty between the two countries has been finalized and was ready to be signed, the source said.
The British government had requested Pakistan last year to extradite Imran Shahid, Zeeshan Shahid and Mohammad Faisal accused of abducting and murdering a British national, Kriss Donald. But the request was turned down as no formal extradition treaty existed between the two countries.
Kriss Donald was murdered in Glasgow, Scotland, in March 2004 and the accused persons had fled to Pakistan.
The British authorities had taken the same plea of non-existence of an extradition treaty in turning down a Pakistani request. Pakistan had asked for the extradition of two Pakistanis, Samia Amir wanted on charges of forgery and Masood Akhtar wanted by the Gujrat police in connection with a kidnapping for ransom case.
