By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 4: An anti-terrorism court sentenced on Saturday two accused to suffer life in jail for kidnapping a minor boy for ransom. Judge Aley Maqbool Rizvi of the ATC-1 also ordered forfeiture of properties of accused Jameel Sharif and Shamshad Ali, worth Rs100,000 each.

The two accused were found guilty of having kidnapped Faizan son of Naimat Ullah for ransom in Landhi on Oct 25 last.

According to prosecution, represented by special public prosecutor Abdul Waheed Khan, accused Jamil Shareef kidnapped the son of his neighbour and took him to the house of his brother-in-law Shamshad Ali in Sahibdad Goth.

The accused told victim’s father Naimat Ali, a tailor, that the kidnappers were demanding Rs200,00 for the release of his son.

The accused obtained Rs50,000 and gold earrings from victim’s father on Nov 4 as ransom. A police party chased him and arrested him as he came out of accused Shamshad’s house along with the kidnapped boy.
