By Our Correspondent

CHAKWAL, June 2: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and President Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) L.K. Advani Thursday arrived at Katas Raj on a brief visit to inaugurate conservation work at Satghrrah temple. Pakistan Muslim League President Ch Shujaat Hussain, Senior Vice President Abdul Majeed Malik and Secretary-General Mushahid Hussain received the Indian leader on his arrival. District Nazim Sardar Ghulam Abbas and DCO Dr Azam Saleem were also present on the occasion.

Mr Advani along with his family and Indian High Commissioner Shivshankar Menon visited Amrat Kund - the sacred pool.

Director-General Punjab Archaeological Department Maqbool John and district information officer Tanveer Khalid briefed the guests on the historical background of the place.

Mr Advani took round of the compound built by Sikh General Hari Singh Nalva and then laid the foundation stone of the conservation work at Satghrrah temples.

Later he visited Shave Lung temple where he and his family performed their religious rites. Mr Advani remained tight-lipped and avoided journalists. At Katas Mines Training Institute the Indian opposition leader was introduced with Manmohan Singh’s class fellow Raja Mohammad Ali.

The guests were presented the models of Urrial - a mountain goat unique to Salt Range - and souvenirs of the temples by the district government and shawls by a Hindu family to the wife and daughter of Mr. Advani.
