KARACHI: Violence in city termed result of wrong policies
KARACHI, June 2: Chairman of the Sindh National Front Sardar Mumtaz Ali Khan Bhutto has said that the bloodshed and violence that has engulfed Karachi is the outcome of the government’s wrong policies. In a statement issued here on Thursday, he said that the prevailing law and order situation posed a threat to the entire country as the rulers, who were supposed to ensure safety and security of common people, themselves felt insecure.
He cautioned that the prevailing situation in Karachi was a challenge and if the rulers failed to meet the challenge, it would worsen.
“The situation in Sindh is worst because this province is faced with corruption, loot, lawlessness and many other such problems for long,” he observed.
Sardar Bhutto also criticized the federal government for depriving Sindh of its rights, and said that the centre had recently distributed development funds of Rs2.75 billion out of which it gave only 10 per cent to Sindh against its 26 per cent share even on the basis of population.
Referring to the criticism by the Sindh governor, the SNF chief said he (Mr Bhutto) was against the ‘Mirs, Pirs and Shahri Babus’ sitting in the ruling PML, MQM and PPP who had made the life of common man miserable and enjoyed full support of the government. “Some of them are involved in harbouring criminals and the others in illegal weapons’ dealings.” He said people were raising their voice against such people at every level, but in vain.
