LAHORE, June 1: A fine century by Muhammad Yasir and half-centuries by Asif Raza and Jamshed Ahmed enabled North Zone Whites to earn a big total of 378 in the first innings against North Zone Blues in the Inter-district U-19 cricket tournament at the Railways Stadium on Wednesday. Yasir struck 16 boundaries while he faced 239 balls to score 122. Asif cracked seven fours off 100 balls to score 61 runs while Jamshed scored 50-ball 56 which included four sixes and two boundaries.
By the close of play, Blues were four without loss.
A sparkling knock of 84 by Usman Salahuddin and Qasim Ali (54) and later fall of quick three wickets put West Zone Blues in a position to earn first innings lead against West Zone Whites at the Model Town ground.
Usman hit 13 fours while he faced 124 balls as Blues piled up 324 in the first innings while batting first. Qasim contributed useful runs with eight boundaries.
By the close of play, Whites had lost three wickets for 63 with leg-spinner Ghulam Mustafa snaring two wickets for 11 runs.
At Mughalpura Institute ground, East Zone Whites had taken four runs lead over the first innings with five wickets intact against East Zone Blues.
Collective efforts by Umar Sabir Malik (4-37), Khurram Shahzad (3-22) and Usman Malik (3-16) helped East Zone Whites bundle out East Zone Blues for 124 in 48.2 overs. No player could cross the figure of 20.
By the close of play, Whites were 128 for five in 36.2 overs.
