LAHORE, June 1: Najeeb Faisal Chaudhry has been reinducted as an additional advocate-general ‘in the public interest’, the adage also used in an earlier notification under which his services were terminated on May 13. According to a Punjab government notification, issued here on Wednesday, Chaudhry Mohammad Sadiq and Zafar Iqbal Awan were also appointed as additional advocate-generals.

Chaudhry Sadiq is attached to the law chamber of advocate-general Chaudhry Mohammad Aftab Iqbal.

According to the notification, 12 assistant advocate-generals have also been appointed to fill as many posts of the law officers, which were vacated last month. The newly appointed assistant advocate-generals also include Zubair Khalid, the son of the late caretaker prime minister, Malik Meraj Khalid. His appointment is said to have been made on the recommendation of former president and MNA Farooq Ahmad Khan Leghari.

Hashim Sabir Raja, the son of justice Raja Mohammad Sabir is also among the new assistant AGs, besides Rana Amir Ahmad Khan, Mehr Mohammad Nawaz Bajwa, Zafarullah Khan Khakwani, Faisal Ali Qazi, Sarfraz Ali Khan, Mubashir Latif Gill, Mudassar Khalid Abbasi, Shafi Mohammad Tariq, Rafay Ahmad Khan and Abdul Khaliq Khan Saddozai.

Most of the new law officers are not practising at the Supreme Court and have strong affiliations with the ruling Pakistan Muslim League or their political partners in the coalition at the Centre. A number of them are active in the bar politics as members of the Muslim League Wukala Mahaz.
