Dutch boys punished for attacking Muslims

AMSTERDAM, June 1: Five Dutch teenage boys were sentenced to community service and ordered to undergo a special education programme on Wednesday for their involvement in arson attacks on a Muslim school and mosque last year.

A court in the southern city of s’Hertogenbosch also gave the boys suspended jail sentences of 240 days for the attacks in the town of Uden which were among the more serious incidents in a wave of anti-Muslim attacks following the Nov 2 stabbing and shooting of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh. The boys are aged 14 to 17. —Reuters
