NAWABSHAH, May 31: Speakers at a seminar have said that drug addiction is a major social problem because the departments concerned have not only failed to control drug trafficking but are also allegedly involved in it, and drug dealers are doing their business in connivance with police and the excise department.
The seminar, ‘Drug Addiction is a Serious Social Problem’, was organized here on Tuesday on the International Day against Drugs by the Cambridge Education System and the Journalists and Thinkers Forum.
District Naib Nazim Khalid Hussain Channa alleged that the departments responsible for controlling the drug trade were supporting drug dealers, because of which, it had become an international business.
He said that it was the responsibility of the district government to organize such seminars, but it had failed to do so. He would personally take up the matter and ensure that the district government played its due role, he added.
He urged the District Nazim and others concerned to take action not only against drug dealers but also those involved with them.
