PSB allocates Rs313.973m for uplift projects
ISLAMABAD, May 30: A sum of Rs 313.973 million has been allocated for various development projects across the country for the financial year 2005-06 of which at least six are new. Among the new projects to be undertaken by the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) are the installation of artificial hockey turfs in Rawalakot and Khushab and renovation of Quetta’s Coaching Centre.
Converting the old terminal of the Lahore Airport into a world class sports complex is also a new project for which a sum of Rs6 million has been earmarked.
Brig Arif Mahmud Siddiqui, the Director General of PSB said that in January 2004, the Board had as many as 51 projects approved work on about half of them currently in progress.
“Never before have so many projects been approved in Pakistan’s sports history,” he said proudly.
“For the new projects, we will be submitting our cash plan to the government by June 15 telling them how everything will be executed.”
