Fakhr-e-Sanghar obliges at last
KARACHI, May 29: Fakhr-e-Sanghar partnered by champion jockey M. Nasir obliged his large band of supporters at last, after a few near misses, galloping home to victory in the main event of the Winter Gymkhana Meeting on Sunday at the Karachi Racecourse.
Installed as the firm favourite, the thoroughbred chestnut colt never gave the followers any jitters passing the post with ease.
The day’s honours however were reserved for riding boy Mohammad Essa, who stole the limelight with a brace of winners through Leopard and Bang On Target. Not to be left behind were owner Haji Khuda Bux Rajwar and trainer Mushtaq Ali Khan, who scored their double triumphs through the bay colt Leopard and Fakhr-e-Sangher.
The first event was bagged by the chestnut horse Hat’s Off, presenting riding boy Sheraz Ahmed his second win this season.
Jaguar who pulled hook, line and sinker last week through Mohammad Ismail to make way for a tailor made race for Lucky Seven, this time did not go wrong and sprinted to victory in the second event.
Jockey Naeem Ahmed back in the city after a long stint in the UAE, registered his second success in two attempts riding home the bay horse Gold Disc to a smashing victory in the next event.
Syed Nadeem Anwar’s bay filly Haseena-e-Arab with Ghulam Shabbir II in the saddle, won the next race as she pleased.
Shah Mardan Shah II Pir Pagaro’s thoroughbred bay mare Bang On Target scorched the turf in the sixth event, clocking an amazing time of one minute 2 4/5 seconds over five furlong.
Hats off to the racing administrator Fakir Syed Aitaz Uddin, secretary Syed Ayaz Hussain Shah Rashdi and deputy secretary Syed Ali Akbar Shah Rashdi, for conducting a splendid day of clean horseracing which was thoroughly enjoyed by the racing fans.
Our racing column was in the forefront once again with four winners in seven events. Our success came through Jaguar in the second event, Haseena-e-Arab in the fourth, Leopard in the fifth and Fakhr-e-Sanghar, our day’s best in the seventh.
