Poly Nest triumphs

Published May 30, 2005

LAHORE, May 29: Poly Nest, a three-year-old filly, who won the fifth race during the Lahore Summer Meeting, was the best performer of the day at the Racecourse on Sunday. Ridden by jockey Aamar Parvaiz, the filly from Polinesso out-of-Cinciatti, Poly Nest trained by Mubarik Ali, was backed down to 30 to 100 on. She won by an impressive margin of about four lengths from Puma The Great.

Poly Nest clocked one minute 14 4/5 seconds.

During this race, two jockeys had a fall from their mounts. Jockey M. Hanif came tumbling down from Empire Maker and Faisal Tahir from Over Ruff. Hanif fractured his collarbone while Faisal escaped unhurt but his mount Over Ruff was injured critically and taken away from the track in a horse-carrier trolly.

The stewards cancelled the feature event, a class II and III combined handicap race before it was run thus the card was reduced to seven events.
