QUETTA, May 29: Sardar Fateh Mohammad Hasni of the Pakistan Muslim League has won the by-election to NA-271, Kharan-cum-Panjgur. According to unofficial results from all the 213 polling stations available with the Election Commission, Sardar Hasni secured 25,136 votes while his closest rival Mir Abdul Khaliq Baloch of the National Party bagged 17,600 votes.
Khaliq Baloch was the joint candidate of Baloch nationalist parties and the People’s Party Parliamentarians and the PML (Nawaz) had supported.
The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal failed to retain the seat as its candidate Hafiz Mohammad Azam Baloch got 9,672 votes. The seat fell vacant because of the death of Maulana Rehmatullah Baloch of the MMA. Election Commission said the turnout remained 29.3 per cent.
PA BY-POLLS: The by-election to Balochistan Assembly seat BP-12, Qila Abdullah II, will be held on July 9.
According to a statement issued by the provincial election commission on Saturday, nomination papers can be filed from May 31 till June 2.
