‘Land grabbers occupy school’

By Our Correspondent

SHEIKHUPURA, May 29: Land grabbers have taken possession of the primary school for girls located in Dera Sporran Singhwala in nearby Kaloke village. Some villagers, including area Nazim Dr Abid, told newsmen on Friday that the school was constructed some 11 years ago in 1994 for the girls studying in far-flung schools located in other villages.

They alleged that a qabza group forcibly occupied the school building some time back and parked tractor-trolleys there besides keeping the cattle there.

They claimed that they had approached the EDO (education) many times, but he had not taken any action in this regard so far. They urged the governor, the chief minister and the education minister to get vacated the school building and appoint the required staff so that their daughters could get education in their own village.

Meanwhile, expressing concern over the occupation of the school building, Human Rights Forum Chairman Chaudhry Amir Afzal has demanded the highups to take action against the qabza group.

EDO (education) Yousaf Mashi was not available for comments. When the scribe visited his office, the staff said: “Sahib is busy in meetings at an unknown place.”
