Shrine incident condemned

By Our Correspondent

ATTOCK, May 29: Leaders of various political parties and groups have condemned the suicide bomb attack at Bari Imam shrine in which scores of innocent lives were lost. MMA Attock President Barkat Ali Khan, Mehnatkash Mahaz Attock President Rana Liaquat Ali Khan, PPP leaders Malik Hakmeen Khan and Sheikh Ehsanuddin advocate and PML-N leader Sheikh Aftab Ahmed termed the attack a heinous crime against humanity and conspiracy against Islam and Pakistan.

They also questioned the government’s claim of having succeeded in improving security and curbing terrorism.

“Islam is a religion of peace and compassion and preaches respect for humanity, but Bari Imam shrine incident is a deplorable demonstration of barbarism,” they said.

The political leaders said those who had planned such a heinous crime were enemies of mankind and should not be spared at any cost.

They appealed to the president and prime minister to take serious notice of such incidents and act firmly against elements who were exploiting religion for their vested interest.
