KARACHI, May 29: Sindh Employees’ Social Security Institution Commissioner Mohammad Asif Marghoob has urged the field directors of the institution to make all out efforts to widen the social security scheme. Chairing the monthly review meeting of SESSI, the commission stressed on observing punctuality to improve working of the institution and to resolve problems of secured workers, said a press release issued here on Sunday.
Earlier, the commissioner was informed that SESSI had disbursed Rs3.109 million as cash benefits to secured workers and their dependents during the last month.
The total disbursement includes Rs7.16 million paid as sickness benefits followed by Rs1.615 million as disablement pension/gratuity, Rs0.195 million as survivor’s fund, Rs0.409 million as injury benefits, Rs91,000 as maternity benefits, Rs62,000 as death/iddat benefits and Rs21,000 was paid as ex-gratia.
A total amount of Rs.64,964 was collected as social security contribution from 17,115 registered establishments employing 0.303 million registered workers during the month under review.—PPI
