Farhan slams century

KARACHI, May 28: Farhan Rafiq scored a superb century as Zone-II Blues thrashed Zone-IV Blues by 168 runs in the KCCA Under-19 Inter-zonal cricket championship match at the TMC Ground on Friday. Farhan hammered eight boundaries in making 108 that helped Zone-II Blues score 272 for nine in 40 overs. Asim Imam also batted well to contribute 65 which included six fours.

In another fixture, played at the Student Ground, Zone-VI Whites struggled before beating Zone-V Blues by two wickets. For the winners, off-spinner Misbah Khan took five for 31 and Hasnain Rizvi hit 66 with seven fours and three sixes.

Summarised scores:

Zone-II Blues beat Zone-IV Blues by 168 runs.

ZONE-II BLUES 272-9 in 40 overs (Farhan Rafiq 108, Asim Imam 65, Tauseef Bhopali 20; Hasan Javed 5-31, Arsalan Khan 2-90); ZONE-IV BLUES 104 in 28.4 overs (Ehtesham Shami 4-23, Shoaib Lodhi 2-17).

Zone-VI Whites beat Zone-V Blues by two wickets.

ZONE-V BLUES 148 in 38 overs (Zeeshan Rahim 42, Tariq Murad 28; Misbah Khan 5-41, Asif Hameed 2-9); ZONE-VI WHITES 150-8 in 32 overs (Hasnain Rizvi 66, Sarfraz Ahmed 29; Tufail Ahmed 4-49, Hammad Rafiq 2-22).
