NAWABSHAH, May 28: Maulana Samiul Haq, the chairman of his own faction of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, has said the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, Maulana Fazalur Rehman, and NWFP Chief Minister Akram Durrani should attend National Security Council meetings because they had accepted the Legal Framework Order.
He was talking to journalists at the residence of Qayoom Qureshi, general secretary of the Sindh Small Traders Association, Sukkur division, here on Saturday after offering him condolence on the death of his father.
He said Maulana Fazal and Mr Durrani should attend the NSC meetings to present problems of the NWFP and Balochistan so that the same could be resolved as the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal had failed to satisfy the general public though it had governments in two provinces.
Answering a question, he observed that the MMA had derailed from its original track and violated its pledge to fight against US policies. He said the MMA had only remained a two-party alliance.
He said the country was facing crisis and people were against President Gen Pervez Musharraf’s enlightened moderation.
He condemned desecration of the Holy Quran by US forces. He proposed formation of a Hurmat-i-Quran council to protest against the incident from one platform.
Answering another question, he claimed that the LFO was a part of the constitution and would remain intact even after the Gen Musharraf rule.
He said the law and order situation in Sindh had become worst.
