PESHAWAR, May 28: Criticizing a statement of Jamaat-i-Islami Senator Mohammad Ibrahim against the opposition leader in the National Assembly Maulana Fazlur Rehman, a leader of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) has said that such statements are a threat to the very existence of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal.
“Senator Ibrahim has hurt the sentiments of the JUI-F workers by issuing an irresponsible statement against Maulana Fazlur Rehman and he should apologize”, JUI-F provincial leader Mufti Kifayatullah said.
Speaking at a press conference here on Saturday, he recalled that Senator Ibrahim in the statement had opposed participation of Mr Rehman and NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani in the next meeting of the National Security Council.
Mr Kifayatullah warned that such irresponsible statements could pose a serious threat to existence of the six-party alliance and said that the JUI-F would continue its protest till the JI senator tendered an apology.
He said that the JUI-F could not be blackmailed through such statements which would open a Pandora’s box if the senator did not clear his position.
