KIU to open four new departments

GILGIT, May 28: The Karakuram International University (KIU) will open four new departments to widen the scope of studies in Northern Areas. The KIU sources said that the administration had planned to open the departments of tourism, herbal medicine, mining and remote sensing geographical information systems (GIS), which would be equipped with laboratories and other equipment for conducting research. The sources claimed that tourism, herbs, mining (gemstones) had immense potential in the Northern Areas which needed exploration and streamlining on scientific lines.

The KIU officials said that an e-library was also being set up at the campus.
