Police patrol posts from June 1
BAHAWALPUR, May 27: Police patrol posts will become operational across the province from June 1. It was learnt here on Friday that the posts established on highways by the Punjab government would serve as reporting centres which would forward complaints of crime to their nearest police stations.
DIG Chaudhry Ghulam Haider Marth told Dawn that in the first phase 24 patrol posts in the Bahawalpur range would become functional from June 1, while another 28 would come into operation in the second phase, to be announced by the government.
The DIG said that police teams would patrol provincial and link roads near the posts.
Out of the 24 posts, Bahawalpur district has nine, while Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan districts will have five and 10 posts, respectively.
In Bahawalpur district, the nine posts have been built at Pul Mailsi Link, 82 Morr, Kudwala, Tailwala, Pul Balochan, Raman, Tahirwali, Jabbar Shaheed and Khairpur Daha.
The five posts in Bahawalnagar district have been established at Bareka, Chak 138/Dahiri, Adda Latifabad and Shaheed Chowk.
The 10 posts in Rahim Yar Khan district are at: Pul Dagga, Manthar Town, Thul Hamza, Pul Kalewali, Maqbool Morr, Pul Muhammad Minor, Lunda Phatak, Nawankote, Pul Samoka and Pul 262-P.
LAW & ORDER: District Nazim Tariq Cheema has claimed that the law and order situation is satisfactory in Bahawalpur district.
This he said while speaking as a chief guest at ‘Bara Khana’ which he hosted to felicitate the police force for eliminating the notorious Bosan dacoits gang.
The district nazim also distributed shields and prizes among policemen for their good performance.
